The ABCs
of this campaign

Accountability

Accountability makes our leaders and our city stronger and that starts with trusting relationships between people of all backgrounds. Sarah is committed to listening to the voices of people from every neighborhood in District 1. From Bemiss to Whitman, Sarah will proudly represent you in city hall.

    • Meeting people where they are

      • Town halls in district

      • In district office hours

      • Attending community events

    • Being transparent about what’s happening in city hall

      • Informing constituents about upcoming ordinances, committee meetings, and budget items

    • Ensuring anyone who is funded by our tax dollars (elected officials, police officers, city employees, etc.) are aligned with the values, laws, and expectations of our community

      • Allowing our Police Ombuds to do their job by ensuring no one is above the law

Belonging

“In Spokane We All Belong” is the motto of our city and it’s an aspiration that Sarah is driven by. Everyone deserves to feel like they have a place here, regardless of their identity, income, or zip code.

    • No district is left behind or undervalued

    • We grow our city culture, arts, and entertainment to support a growing community

    • Connect students and youth with community mentors to share resources and opportunities that will encourage young people to keep their talent, smarts, and creativity in Spokane

    • Be an attractive place that people want to move to and plant roots

Community

Our community is what makes our city special, and there are many issues that shape whether it is healthy or not. A healthy, thriving community is one where people have their basic needs met, so that they can invest in their families, their businesses, and our city.

    • Community Health

      • Addressing environmental justice issues

      • Increasing access to health care

      • Investing in behavioral health responses

    • Community Safety

      • Traffic calming measures that make traveling safe for drivers, bicyclists, pedestrians, and public transportation riders.

      • Investing in data-driven strategies to keep each other safe

    • Thriving Neighborhoods

      • Increasing accessible housing options to keep people housed

      • Encouraging each neighborhood’s unique identity and history
